◎简　　介　

　　在脑神经科医院里有一个勤劳的总是面带浅笑的勤杂工。他曾一度凌虐妻子，抛弃女儿去近海船队当了一位船员。几年以后，他厌倦了这类生活，回到了故乡。返来后才晓得，在他走后，妻子禁不住冲击，发了疯，被收留到了脑神经科医院。而女儿已长成一个标致的大姑娘，正筹算成婚，但却怕疯了的母亲会影响自己的婚姻，很是苦闷。父亲也怕疯了的妻子会破坏女儿的幸运，便潜入医院，做了一位勤杂工，筹算寻觅机遇带着妻子逃出医院。因而在医院做勤杂工的父亲浅笑着面临每一个病人，这个温和的浅笑面具使医院里布满了欢声笑语，做勤杂工的父亲在医院的走廊里负责的打扫着卫生。女儿和心上人捧着艳丽的花束走向幸运的红地毯。
　　此片按照川端康成的同名小说改编，是日本电影史上新感受派电影里程碑式的名作。曾被支出日本名片200部，并获1926年电影旬报十佳奖第四名。为此篇的上映，导演、编剧、摄影师几人拿出全数产业，为作品奔走。导演衣笠助是电影界的元老也是新感受派电影的开创人。他顺应那时天下电影无字幕无声片的潮水，争取到了在新宿武茂野馆（那时为放映本国电影的超级影院）公映，并由演员德川林梦声在一旁讲解。这一次首映被称之为新闹事物来临拂晓时辰的狂热一页。
