　　同性恋自古就有，在欧洲文化的起源地古希腊，其职位甚至曾被提到远高于同性恋的空前位置；而自有电影以来，银幕上就有同性恋者出现，不外，他们的职位可一向不高，只能以藏藏掖掖躲躲闪闪的形式暗渡陈仓。                                    
                                奥斯卡金像奖得主Rob Epstein与Jeffrey Friedman（本片导演）故意拨乱归正，以研讨同性恋电影的典范著作《“胶卷”衣柜（Celluloid Closet）》一书作蓝本，从一百多部好莱坞名作中同性恋者走过期留下的千丝万缕动手，并请来曾饰演过同性恋脚色的演员汤姆•汉克斯、苏珊•萨兰登等报告所见所闻，研读了“电影中的同性恋”，不但以同性恋的角度重新审阅了好莱坞电影成长史，也分解了美国支流文化看待同性恋的血泪史。
