　　表面普通性情外向的嘉利·怀特（茜茜·斯派塞克 Sissy Spacek 饰）一向都是班上冷静无闻的丑小鸭，她怪僻的性情和沉迷于宗教崇敬的母亲更加她蒙受同学的凌辱缔造了得天独厚的条件。虽然现实残暴，但在校园里，仍然有人冷静的关心着嘉利，这使得嘉利建立了信心想要融入校园生活中去 。三年一度的结业晚会要起头了，虽然母亲玛格丽特·怀特（派珀·劳瑞 Piper Laurie 饰）死力否决，但嘉利下定决心要在舞会上夺得“舞会王后”的头筹一改昔日烦闷的形象。可是，一些人总是不愿意放过她，舞会当晚，头戴王冠的嘉利在大庭广众之下满身淋满了猪血，愤慨激活了她体内的女巫血缘，她要利用她的才能，将全部会场酿成人世天堂。                                    
                                本片改编自史蒂芬·金（Stephen King）的同名小说，不但成为了青春校园可骇小说的鼻祖，也为往后层见叠出的同类题材电影开出了一条门路。
