　　　　已经奔三的伊藤开司（藤原龙也 饰）做着无聊有趣的便当伙计工作，对财富的渴望换来的不外是些无法失落。某日，一位名叫远藤澟子（天海佑希 饰）的女人率领手下找到伊藤，要求他作为包管人了偿巨额高利贷债权。拮据的伊藤有力清债，只得依照远藤的倡议登上“希望号”赌船奋力一搏。但在上船的那一刻起，伊藤以及其他众多同病相连的所谓“失利者”便堕入了庞大财富帝国的圈套。在游戏中失利的伊藤众人，今后沦为帝国的仆从，日日在地下工程中劳作，以期有朝一日可以离开债权重返自在。帝国主管利川根（香川照之 饰）等人冷血无情，用尽招数榨取仆从代价，不胜忍受剥削的伊藤终极挑选了九死平生的“勇者之路”，用生命为赌注向利川根倡议应战……                                                                    　　本片按照著名同名漫画改编。
