　　一柳家の当主・賢蔵と久保銀蔵の姪・克子の婚礼の夜、二人の寝所である離れから、忽然琴の音が鳴り響いた。離れに駆けつけた一同が目にしたものは、真っ赤な血の海に折り重なって倒れた賢蔵と克子の姿だった。銀造の招きで婚礼に列席していた金田一耕助は調査に乗り出すが、離れは完全なる密屋で监犯の逃走した形跡も発見されなかった。そして、部屋の金屏風には血塗られた三本の指跡が残され、庭には一本の日本刀が突き立てられていた…。
